Why are credits not being returned?

I have applied for about 10 jobs this last month, that all state that the credits will be returned if the application is unsuccessful or closed... I have not had any of the credits returned when I clearly haven't got the work.

How long does it take for Upwork to return these credits?

You don't get the connects back if YOU are not hired, you only get them back if NOBODY is hired. In that case you get them back when the job post is closed or expires.

It does not say "Refunded if the client doesn't hire YOU" - does it?

Ah, I see.

It does say "Refunded if client doesn't hire” which you can see how that could be interpreted as ‘doesn’t hire YOU’…. maybe it should say "if NOBODY is hired”
