Hello Karine,

The sliding fees are related to every single client of yours. The first $500 paid by your client will be subject to 20% fees, across one or multiple contracts, but for the same client. When you cross the $500 mark with a specific client, the fees will decrease accordingly.

If you land a job from a new client, you will be subject to 20% fees again on your first $500 earned from that new client. And so on...

Hope this help.

It will be 10% on any amount earned with the same client over $500.

Hi Karine,

All contracts that cross a fee threshold will be charged at a blended rate. In your case, the first $500, will be charged 20%, and the remaining $10 will be charged the 10% service fee. For more information on the Upwork Service Fees, please read this help article.

The service fees are based on your lifetime billings with a client, across all contracts you’ve ever had with that client. The sliding fees will only apply if you have crossed a threshold on a client.

Avery,

She's earned $510 from all her contracts & clients combined, since the beginning of time until now. She thinks that the fees will be adjusted after she earns the first $500 in total on Upwork.

Thanks for the flag, Wassim. I actually realised I missed something on my post, and when I came to this thread again, I saw yours. 🙂

Hi ,

I am having the same problem. Client lifetime billing crossed $500 and I still have some pending amount that is due in 3 or 4 days but 20% has already been charged as fees. Can you please check?

Hi Subani,

Please reach out to me via PM (click on my name) and share the contract ID with me so that I can check the details. Thank you.
