I signed up for Upwork while I was travelling but didn't finish my profile. My country is set to Serbia but I now live in the US. Every time I try to access the account settings page to edit location it just redirects me to the "create profile" page. How am I meant to change my country before submitting my profile for review?

Hi Sofia,
We ask all users to provide accurate information about their current location. Additionally, users who select US as their location at the registration are asked to verify that information using a U.S. phone number. That process can't be bypassed.

Thank you for responding! But does this mean I can't use Upwork until I come back in 7 months? Is there no way to restart my application? I didn't know I had to verify it through my phone and decided to put US because that's where all my bank accounts and cards are from.

Can you please please help me too? I have the same issue. The country was automatically selected to Nederlands and it should be Romania instead.

Thanks Joanne for your response, please set it to Pakistan. and I would also like to know if I will be able to change it to China after few months? as I am expecting to move there soon.

Hi Hasmik,
You should be able to change your country by going to Settings > Contact info and clicking the pencil icon next to the location section. Please note that your profile location should reflect your physical location.

Hi Aneeqa,
You should be able to change your country on the Settings > Contact Info page and under the 'Location' section as shown in this screenshot. If you don't see the option there, could you please share a screenshot of the page so that we take a look?

Can someone please help me change my country to the US? I’m located in the US but I made my account while I was in Germany and now it keeps saying to update my tax info whenever I try to change it back to US. I’ve already updated my tax info but it won’t allow me to change the country on my profile. Thank you so much in advance!

Thank you for your message. I see that you have indicated as 'I am not a U.S. person' under your W-8BEN section on your Tax information page. Could you please try changing your country again after updating your tax information to 'I am a U.S. person' and fill in all the listed information?
Please note that if you are traveling and are away from your country of residence temporarily, you don’t need to update your location. Please make sure you have an appropriate visa type or permit to work in a country you are situated in and pay taxes accordingly. You may need to consult with a legal advisor about it.

I recently signed up for Upwork and while submiiting my applicaion, by default my country is selected as Anguilla and it is disable for me to update. I want to update it ot United States but I cannot do it so I just have to submit the appplication with Anguilla as my country. Can you please help me out?
