Just because a contractor does not have any "bad" feedback does NOT mean they are scammers or there is a bug in the system. On the contrary, it just may be these contractors are very conscientious and skilled. I am curious how much you are willing to pay for your jobs. If you limit your dealings to contractors who are paid fairly for their work you will probably experience better results.

Hi,
I also had a contractor where I wrote a description of what happened on his profile. Initially, we agreed that he would do all the work on a given contract personally - we have a requirement that all our work be done by US citizens. He subcontracted the work to someone in another country for 25% of what we were paying him to do it.
I found this out when I back-traced the IP numbers of the person who was logging into our servers to do the work after seeing that all of the work was being done at night. When I confronted him, this started an intricate web of lies that just got more outrageous with each new piece of evidence I found (thank you work diary).
I can go to his profile today and none of what I wrote is on it. His profile looks squeaky clean.
I still use oDesk, but take the ratings with a HUGE grain of salt because it appears like they can be manipulated by the freelancers. Ratings are valuable only if they are honest.

Did you pay him anything or did he refund all your money?
I think the only way that a person can get rid of negative feedback is to pay back all the money or if no money was paid originally..
If you did pay him, then you need to look at when you left the feedback. If the freelancer doesn't leave feedback for you, then it can take two weeks before your feedback will show up on the freelancer's profile.

David,
If I remember right, I know at one time Freelancers could hide negative feedback. I don't think they can now, so it would be dependent on when the feedback was left. Or I could be wrong on all counts here ...

No, I paid him in full. I count that as a bad experience and as a "personal learning opportunity". I left the feedback as soon as I closed the contract, so I followed all of the rules. We did not withhold any payments from him, even though we had every right to do so.

Hi Robert,
David and Suzanne are correct, freelancer is unable to hide, change or remove your feedback. The only way to remove it is to refund all the money paid on the contract.
If the contract has been ended less than 14 days ago, it probably hasn't appeared yet. You could contact Customer Support, so they could check it for you.
