I also find it galling but would hate it if they broke something more important while trying to fix that. (It could happen.)

It's a bit like "Edited for Community Guidelines". I don't mind the occasional editing of some of my posts, but if I'm going to be edited, I'd prefer it be done in clear, unambigious language. For instance, "Edited to comply with Community Guidelines" just looks and sounds so much more professional.
Then again, you make an excellent point about not wanting to see something broken as a result of something else getting fixed.

It's not a big deal. Many writers (e.g. GK Chesterton) have used "less" when talking of countable objects. I don't see why people can't use either word, as it would rarely cause any confusion of meaning.

I honestly don't understand what was wrong with the exact number of proposals so they changed it on less/few/whatever.
