Abandoned job postings ( no hire & no interview)

Hello all,

I have seen job postings from clients that have a great profile (great review, high paying clients and who are not new on Upwork) that go abandoned.

In my 8 last job applications, 3 have conducted interviews and only 1 hired a freelancer.

These job postings get more than 50 proposals and you have to bid more than 20 connects/proposal to get on top.

A freelancer still gets to be charged for the connects spend on a job postings that goes abandoned.

What is the Upwork team doing to minimase the "abandoned job posting" issue?

Best

Hi Arjela,

We certainly understand your concerns about these abandoned job posts. Please be reminded that job posts can expire after 30 days due to a lack of activity. “Activity” includes editing the job post, hiring a freelancer, sending messages, and receiving new proposals. However, when a job is removed by Upwork or is canceled by a client, Connects used to apply for it is returned if no freelancer/s is hired on the job post. Job posts automatically expire after 30 days of inactivity on that job. Connects are not returned in that case.

On the other hand, no Connects refunds will be issued for Boosted Proposals that receive an eligible interaction or are successfully boosted at the end of the auction.

If you boost, but are knocked out of the auction before receiving an eligible interaction, you will not be charged. Refunds are only issued if you bid for a job that we end up removing due to a Terms of Service violation. You’ll be refunded both the boosted Connects and the cost of submitting the proposal.

I figure that nothing. Clients often post the same job in several platforms and may hire someone from another platform and just leave it open on Upwork.
