Is the $1 transfer fee added to payments that are done automatically because your balance reached $100.00 or do you incur that fee only when you ask for a transfer?

I use direct bank withdrawal and thus I pay zero fee for any withdrawal, whether automatic or manually triggered.

Any withdrawal fees you see for Upwork users are based on the type of withdrawal and their location. Those fees ($1.00 or otherwise) are not based on whether the withdrawal was manually or automatically triggered.
