Why do clients post a job open to all but end up interviewing only the ones they invite? Why can't they simply filter their job posting to invite only category. That way freelancers need not have to waste those valuable connects.

I beleive my client account requires I do this, but I have also received, as a freelancer, private invitations.

One tactic I use is to avoid submitting a proposal if I notice client has invited, say 5, 4 have responded and I note that client is interviewing the same number, 4.  That tells me he/she is focused on the invites.
