Contract Completion

Hi everyone,

So I worked with a long-term client and have over 70 jobs with him and $2k+ in total earnings. He has paid me for all the jobs but has not closed the contracts so all of these jobs are still appearing as 'In Progress' on my profile. This also means that my job completion score is not showing up since all of my jobs have been with him. I have asked him to close the contracts multiple times but he has been unresponsive. If I close these contracts myself, will they show up as 'Completed Jobs' on my profile and will I have the job success percentage shown on my profile?

Yes, it will be moved to completed.

Also will be shown "No feedback" there, and no stars. No feedback - no JSS.

Hi Aamna!

In order to get a JSS, you need to complete:

  • Projects with 2 (or more) different clients
  • 4 (or more) different contracts within 24 months

More than 90% of freelancers have a score after 5 projects, and nearly all freelancers have scores after completing 8 projects.

As far as Ending a contract at your end is concerned,  You have the ability to end a contract on Upwork any time, but I must emphasize that it is better to confirm that all parties are aware and in agreement before a contract is closed. Staying on the same page is important! Lest his ego comes into play and he may do something that may not be beneficial for your Upwork career.

Aamna,

Just close them yourself. It won't hurt your JSS and other potential clients might come along. No good client is going to be interested in hiring you if you have 70 projects open - that makes you look a bit too busy to take on more work.
