Additional connects can also be bought separately, if I remember correctly. (I never use all my connects and can't remember the last time I bought any extras. This is mainly because a large percentage of my project wins come on projects I've been invited to by the client.)

Also, I want to see how many other freelancers have placed a proposal on a new project. I don't bother submitting a proposal on a project if that number is above a certain threshold.

I'm honestly not even sure why I pay the membership, lol. I guess it's just to have my custom profile url... I don't use my connects most of the time, I don't care about being competitive, and I don't want to be inactive either. Nor do I hide my earnings because I hate when people do that.
