I am extremely annoyed - my longstanding, ongoing client sent me a message yesterday for one of my regular tasks for him. I DID NOT GET THIS MESSAGE. I check for messages several times per day, and I always reply to him asap. Today he left a message stating that he is using someone else as there is a short time limit on this task - only after he sent this message I saw the task above his note.
This is extremely disappointing; please can you check this - I cannot miss another notification! Contract ID 28773165
(on a side note, since about a month ago, the 'Best Matches' and 'Recent Posts' show up with almost identical information, which is pointless - I don't even want to see 'Best Matches' as many of them are not a good fit and already 3-4 days since posting)

Thanks for your reply, Goran. Interestingly, I did not get a notification on your message either - I had to search for this discussion based on the title of my message - this is weird, as every time I have logged a query in the past, I've received notification that someone has responded....

Try cleaning your cache, or check it from a different browser/device.

Thanks for the reply, Biljana. I already work off two devices, but I have cleared my cache and will check from a different browser. Thanks for the suggestions....oddly, this problem arose just a couple of hours after I reported an inappropriate client/site on Upwork (I looked up the website of a client that linked onto a porn site) so perhaps that corrupted my system....

I would also recommend to, go to your Community Profile > Settings > and under the Preference tab, you will see an option that you can mark to enable you to be automatically subscribed to topics you're participating in or reviewing. Thank you.

The sketch "client">porn>malware hypothesis is certainly plausible.
Yours is not the first report of messages being delayed, sometimes for days.
I'm sure someone will come along to suggest switching to the bright, shiny, but incomplete new message system.

Thanks Goran, at the moment, I believe there is something wrong with my profile - I am still not getting notifications on this discussion, and for the last three hours the listing for the 'most recent' jobs has not changed.....very strange!

Please help! This problem has happened AGAIN! I checked my profile last night and again this morning and there were no messages; nothing showed on my phone either, where I also have my Upwork profile. Now I have checked in, and there was a message waiting for me from my long-term client who left it 24 hours ago with an urgent job to do. I have done all the cache clearing and using a different browser, etc. Why are these messages not showing up?!

This is a known problem which UW has so far been unable to resolve. I have experienced several times myself (not recently but it did cost me at least one project). Clearing cache and cookies, switching browsers, all the simple stuff they initially tell you to do has nothing to do with it.
I'm trying to paste here the link to a thread several days ago about this precise problem. I wil try to do it in a separate comment.
UW needs to communicate with your client to get you off the hook for not responding.

Thanks Phyllis, very helpful reply.... it doesn't solve the issue but it's good to be part of the discussion as it is clearly a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.
