ID verification

Upwork is asking me for ID verification. Or my connects will basically go to waste, as I won't be able to respond anymore. I don't want to verify my ID as it has my BSN and personal information on it and I have no idea what Upwork is going to do with it, if they can be trusted with with it. It also didn't seem very relevant... So how do I fix this or atleast get a refund?

Here is the help article on ID verification. Without ID verification, freelancers cannot withdraw their earnings.

That's insane. I have already paid 20% fee plus tax and connects as well.
