It has no effect on how many jobs you get, and it's cheaper to just buy connects instead.

Buying Upwork plus membership has not that impact on your number of jobs. Better, if you buy more connects. For getting jobs, you might know your skill set and expertise are enough. If in the first attempt your client gets happy with you, he will always seek your services. Focus on that aspect.
