I have recently seem that my proposal are about to 19 connect is that true?
Mar 28, 2024 03:13:16 AM by Taher Ali A
Hey,
I have seen 23 connected jobs on Upwork. Now it is very hard for freelancers to survive on Upwork and bid on jobs. Previously Upwork was good when there were 2, 4, and 6 connects jobs.
Mar 28, 2024 05:07:07 AM by Mieszko S
Today I saw the number of connections on the Upwork platform increase from 19 to 22.
Very dirty. This is how Upwork makes money from freelancers even we are providing some percent of our incomes.
Very disappointed.
I hope Upwork keeps it the way it was.

I just noticed that Upwork is now requiring up to 23 connects for certain job proposals. This change might aid in reducing competition, ensuring that only the most relevant freelancers will apply.

Dedicated or Desperate?
I think you made a mistake there... Most jobs on Upwork are low pay.. Dedicated to what exactly?? It's the most desperate people please!!!
Mar 28, 2024 05:57:49 AM by Emmanuel N
I get where you are coming from, but 23 connects is outrageous and even tho you are the best for that job, you probably will skip it.. people that will keep applying to such overpriced jobs are desperate, because they most likely wouldn't get it... The client can skip as normal
Mar 21, 2024 12:45:50 AM by Khushbu G
And odd number connects job made freelancer to by another connects, because it will never remain like 10, 6,4 also 1 connect will remain from 10 or 20 connect and that will have to merge in next purchase
Mar 21, 2024 01:29:39 AM by Marjan K
If freelancers keep applying and paying Casino Upwork will go to 32 connects or more.
Mar 27, 2024 01:53:19 AM by Heath C
Yeah, this is the last straw for me. Lower value jobs, higher priced connects. Utter nonsense.
Mar 21, 2024 05:13:45 AM by Clark S
I suspect the price of Connects will continue to climb until Upwork meets its objectives. We've seen a maximum of 16 Connects over the last 6-10 months, but 22 Connects, 25 Connects, 28 Connects, etc., could be on the way.
It appears this approach is two-fold--it creates more revenue for Upwork while reducing the number of freelancers bidding on jobs.
Mar 21, 2024 06:06:28 AM by Emmanuel N
I do observe alot of freelancers banging 30 connects and co on vague job postings just to be on top.... Pretty sure 19 connects is nothing to them.... The higher the better if you ask me.. let people that actually apply be reasonable to an extent.
Mar 21, 2024 10:12:30 AM Edited Mar 21, 2024 10:30:59 AM by Pema L
what if they are the agencies bidding as high as 50 connects, i have seen them doing it.. and for a freelancer who deserve to get this project can't even send the proposals because for sure, everyone seem to be boosting their proposal making the freelancer's proposal send way behind.
You wouldn't believe it people been boosting their proposal using 40 connects for $10 work.. thats not even worth it! because obviously someone could use more than 40 to win the project and i think that's ridiculous!

At the same time (i.e. in the last 2-3 days), I noticed that the number of required connects has disappeared from view in the main job listings, and that you now have to open the full job post in order to see the number of connects.
Hardly a coincidence.
Frankly, that's very, very sly and underhand of Upwork.
If Upwork was a person, I wouldn't wanna know them.
Mar 21, 2024 06:06:55 AM Edited Mar 21, 2024 06:07:16 AM by Pema L
I was about to purchase the connects, i usually do when i run out of them.. but i just noticed, the connects are increased. There when you look for jobs, on the left side, you could filter out connects as per you'd like to spend but there's no connects category to filter.. Weird!
Now idek if its worth spending money for connects anymore on Upwork..
Did you guys notice that about the connects required for sending proposals?
Mar 21, 2024 06:25:10 AM by Clark S
The Connects required to send proposals goes as high as 19 Connects.
But you're right--the required Connects filter has been removed from the left navigation search criteria.

The same dilemma again and again, we were arguing 1 year before about the same issue of doubling the connects.
Mar 21, 2024 08:49:29 AM by Jyoti S
I also noticed a few jobs with 7, 13, 18, 19 connects.
Not sure, what's wrong with Upwork and now they are charging randomly.
Mar 21, 2024 08:59:23 AM by Mykola A
And why am I not surprised? 😼
Waiting for nn0 prices. Look like will be added within year.
Mar 21, 2024 09:09:01 AM by Olga P
Ah, so they indeed decided to go down and collapse the platform. Aight, noted.
Mar 21, 2024 09:15:18 AM by Jyoti S
They also removed the option from the filter where you could have select the no. of connect required. What a move. Still shocked and seems like a nightmare.
Mar 21, 2024 08:56:14 AM by Jyoti S
Why there's no announcement in the Product Release Notes regarding the sudden change in the no. of connects/job?
What's going on? I saw a few job posts that require 7, 10, 13, 18, 19 connects.
Mar 27, 2024 06:52:01 AM by Khushbu G
Yes they have to announce by official email specifically when it's related to cost
Mar 21, 2024 10:15:49 AM by Rahul V
i just saw that a proposal needed 18 connects..whats up with upwork? already the quality of jobs clients is going down and on what basis the connects are being increased.....request upwork policy makers to please rethink.. 😞
Mar 21, 2024 10:17:51 AM by Rahul V
seriously i am thinking to pause bidding cant afford to spend so many connects....
Mar 21, 2024 12:56:05 PM by Christine A
Every time Upwork increases their prices, a lot of freelancers get angry and threaten to leave. Then, guess what? Hardly anybody leaves and Upwork still has way too many freelancers. Is it any wonder that they increased their prices again? They're doing it because that's what people are willing to pay. Supply and demand.
Mar 21, 2024 12:59:55 PM by Mohammad Irfanul K
For a single resource, it's tough to get a job! As the resource may need to apply for several jobs. Please rethink the connect amount. Within a year you guys raised the connect from 2 to 8 to 16, now its 18!
Mar 21, 2024 04:12:17 PM by Christine A
And yet, you're still here. Why should Upwork reduce their prices if this is what people are willing to pay?
Mar 22, 2024 02:05:33 AM by Ivaylo G
Because otherwise freelancers will not apply for jobs and instead wait for invites from clients.

Is there any evidence of that happening? Every job that I see still has 20-50 invitations within an hour.
If the number of proposals per project goes down to an alarming level, you can bet that Upwork will lower the connects requirement. But, that hasn't happened yet.
Mar 22, 2024 05:04:18 AM by Jyoti S
You got a point.
I also noticed the same amount of proposals submitted within a few minutes and that too on a 19 connects job.
Mar 27, 2024 06:50:34 AM by Khushbu G
20 to 50 showing is illusion might possible only 10 people applied on it
Mar 25, 2024 08:19:03 AM Edited Mar 25, 2024 08:19:38 AM by Lisa A. B
Agreed. The only way change will happen is if there's a signficant reduction in proposals/purchasing connects. I don't see that happening, especially as there continue to be proposal boosts to 30, 40 or 50+ connects. If freelancers have long term projects with recurring revenue they can afford to use 19 connects to apply and boost every time. Some even have stockpiled connects if they are not applying to jobs due to heavy workload.
Mar 26, 2024 08:10:59 AM by Ivaylo G
Stockpiling takes months - Upwork gives only 10 free connects per month. Is there any evidence those 20-50 proposals in the first 3-5 minutes (especially the top 3 boosted ones) are real and not just an attempt to make the illusion how many people are desperately willing to spend dozens or even hundreds of connects on every job post?
