I've the same experience - but also a bunch of impressions and clicks. I found out that the boosting category is main factor for getting impressions. But it also depends on the search terms the clients (or talent searchers) specify. Also, your reputation counts. In my case (Rising Talent, no JSS) it will cost more connects to get impressions because the "newbie" profiles have to overtake the higher rated talents with badges and JSS.
And I'm sure that there are more influencing factors.
I suggest that you play with the boosting parameters (category, amount of connects and limit) and record the results to get an idea how this works. It's pretty individual - so good luck ... 🙂
