Hi there, I'm new here and have a question, and even though I'm pretty sure the answer will be "no", I'd like to double check!
For freelance blog/article/ghost writing jobs, is it possible/allowed to take previous articles I have written (from personal/academic work or personal blog) and adapt/edit it enough to submit for a relevant UpWork assignment?

There is no rule against that.
An important point to keep in mind is that Upwork is not a writing site.
Upwork is a general freelance work platform, which allows writing jobs on the platform.
So... you will not find every imaginable scenario and question relating to writing covered by Upwork TOS.

The answer is yes, if:
a) You own the rights to the writing in question.
b) You tell the client that you're giving them an edited form of something you have already published.
Otherwise, it's best not to use previous articles of yours.
