Time stamp on messages

My messages currently show the time according to my laptop. But last night I sent a message around midnight and received one back immediately, and the messages both say 9.04 a.m, August 24. Anyone know how this happens?

Update: My mistake. The time stamp was for the client's response to my proposal (a copy of which is included in the first response to the freelancer, as always). It was not the time the proposal was sent. 9.04 a.m. was the time the client replied.
