What is the use of promo code?

I have seen there is promo code box and i think freelancers can get their promo code and apply them. Any info about it?

Promo codes are provided as part of special promotional events.

You don't have a promo code, so just leave that field blank.

Upwork isn't doing those promotional events right now. I seriously doubt that there are ANY freelancer out there who have current, still-functioning promo codes. So you are not at any sort of disadvantage compared to anybody else.
