Hello,

Am new here and would like to meet people who have been here for a while. I applied for a job and just about an hour later, the job was removed and the person sent me a email asking me to contact someone on Telegram, I did but the guy sent me a booklet asking me to choose which of the jobs I wanted and was requesting for a refundable security fee of some sort. I told him it looked like a scam and I couldn't keep up with the job. I also asked why I could not view the job or negotiate on the Upwork site. 

How do I verify genuine opportunities please?

Never Never go off site with a prospect; it's almost always a scam and it's against Upwork's ToS.
