Chinese interpreter new to Upwork

Hi all! 

I just signed on upwork.  Would appreciate your valuable advice.  

I have my own business, mainly in immigration and personal finance and global tax advisory.  I gave up my job as a CPA and looking after family. I found it very hard to get back into the workforce, so I am trying various sources.  

I am not familiar with this platform, so anyone can advise me how to connect? I have to pay to get connection is that what it means?
