Hi everyone,
Need little help here.
I submitted a proposal for data entry works and the client asked me to contact his project assistant manager on telegram. When I chatted, he asked my experience and basics, and then sent a PDF file of work which had 3-4 options to choose from ranging from 1000USD to 4000USD. But for each of the options, I had to pay a security fee ranging from 25 USD to 100USD respectively.
Need help in knowing if this is the normal way it works, or this is a scam. I am new on Upwork, so your answers will highly guide and support me on taking the right decisions.
Thanks.

Hi Kurian,
Thank you for your message. This sounds like a scam. You should never need to pay the client. I will notify our team.
It's also important to note that all communication must remain on Upwork until a contract is in place on Upwork. Communicating outside of Upwork before a contract is in place is a violation of our Terms of Use.

This is a scam. Please read this thread: https://community.upwork.com/t5/New-to-Upwork/List-of-red-flags-for-scams/m-p/1017044#M158742
