Hi guys,


I am new to UpWork so I wanted to ask a question.


What does it mean when I see a client has no blue tick and "Payment Method Not Verified", yet below that it says  "$5,368 total spent, 15 hours billed"?


My question is - can a client be trusted if they haven't verified a payment method yet it shows they've paid for previous jobs? Although, all of their jobs, freelancers and amounts per capita are private.

This appears to be a trustworthy client who uses Upwork in the right way.


She has paid freelancers over $5000. She probably uses some hourly contracts, and a lot of fixed-price contracts.


Her payment method is CURRENTLY not verified. Perhaps her credit card expiration date has simply passed. This isn't a big deal.


I would happily apply to this client's job. If I was hired, then I would ask her to verify her payment method before I started work on the project.

To follow up on Preston's advice, I'd advise you to ask this client to verify their payment method before you accept their offer, in case you agree to work together.
