Profile

Hello Upwork Community,

Would anyone be willing to take a look at my profile and offer feedback or suggestions to improve? I aspire to work on this platform as a career, but am just beginning, and of course hope for success.

Thank you in advance!

Briauna

Briauna:

Your profile title ("General Admin. Director/ Transcriptionist/ Data Entry/ Resume Builder") and profile page overall contains too many disjointed, unrelated skills. I don't know who you are as a freelancer. Clients are unlikely to hire you if they don't understand who you are and what it is that you offer them.

And you need to remove any mention of "data entry" from your profile page. You obviously are capable of doing more than "data entry." And Upwork has no need for additional data entry professionals. None of the current Upwork data entry professionals have been complaining that they have too much work to handle.

When you put "data entry" on profile, you diminish it.

Thank you for your prompt reply and critique. I included "General Admin." in my title to tie these general office duties together, as well as removed several experiences from my office background to focus on data entry. Of course, with office background, numerous duties are included. To be clear, are you suggesting there is really no work in this field, so narrow down my area of expertise without Data Entry? And are you suggesting that including it diminishes my profile in general, or just in the title?

Thanks!

Preston is right. When you have so many skills that they can't fit in your profile title, then you're trying to cram in too much. Maybe rework your profile to have one focus that encompasses a large selection of your skills, like "Executive Administrator" or "Excecutive PA" (or VA). Also, it might sound harsh, but your clients don't care that you're "now a wife and mother" or about your personal development goals. They want to know how you can help them.

Thank you for the tips, guys. I want it to have enough of a personal touch so I seem like a real person, while otherwise just being professional, is that off mark? I changed my title after the critique to reduce my qualifications, but mt original title of "Administrative Director" was criticized as being too broad. Thoughts? Thanks in advance 🙂
