thisi s the answer i find : so should i send i privat billing to client or upwork do it ?

I "get around" the difference between the amount the client is billed and the amount that is transferred to my local bank account by issuing my invoices for the amount the client is billed. I then register the service fee as a business expense. Upwork issues adequate invoices to freelancers for the service fee that we pay.

If it helps, I consider Upwork's payment system to be a US dollar "bank" account in my name. The total amount the client pays is registered as earnings into my "foriegn currency account" and the service fee is registered as a payment from that account. When I withdraw money from Upwork I register it as a transfer between two bank accounts.'

Hi Verdelet,

I`m not sure on what questions you`re referring to, can you share more details about that?

When you agree your budget with your client the fee will be deducted on the full agreed amount or the hours tracked on your contract.

An invoice will be created for this and if you have added your VAT number on your account you will also have an invoice for your VAT as well.

The billing method is for clients to pay freelancers, for freelancers you will need to set up a payment method.

You should not ask your clients for private details as even if your clients has asked you for private information your not obligated to provide them with.
If you have any additional questions feel free to post them here, thank you.

Goran,

It is part of EU regulations that autoentrepreneurs in France provide a VAT number to clients in other EU countries. All the OP has to do is to apply through his tax office for this type of VAT number, which will not in any way affect his status as an autoentrepreneur in France. He will in effect have two numbers one which he would use for domestic clients, which is not a VAT number, and one that he would use, if required, for clients in other EU countries. This is a VAT number and is also valid on Upwork if the OP wishes to use it.

If his client has requested the VAT number, then an autoentrepreneur is obliged to share it. This is not giving away any personal details, but clients need it for their own tax purposes. I have recently had to do this for a Spanish client on Upwork.

Thank you for the details Nichola,

Verdelet

In this case I would recommend to advise yourself with a local tax specialist and respond to your client request after you have received a professional advise.

If you add your VAT to your Upwork account it will be listed on all invoices, to learn more about this you can check out our guide in this Help Article as well. Thank you.
