The beneficiary name is mismatched

Hello there,

 

at my payment methods it says that the beneficiary name is mismatched, I guess because my surnames in my bank account have accent marks and in my Upwork profile I can not put them.

Any chance you could have my payment method activated already?

Hi Laura,

 

Our account support team actively reviews verified name mismatches. Please allow up to 48 hours for the team to review the name mismatch on your account. If our team finds an issue with your payment method, we will reach out to you directly with instructions on how to correct it. You can learn more about this here.

 

If it’s been more than 48 hours and you still see the name mismatch notification on your account, a quick way to contact support is by clicking the "Get Support" button that shows at the bottom right corner of this page.

I want to add paypal as my method of payment, but it says its inactive because my beneficary name doesnt match, but it actually does. How do i fix this?

Hi,

 

I recently created a USD account in Wise but when i added details I recieved this error:

 

Your payment method has been deactivated because the beneficiary name on your payment method does not match the name on your Upwork account.

 

Both my payment method and upwork account have same name, maybe details need to be confirmed manually? Can a support member help me with this? Thank you.

Its been 6 days, (including the weekend so i don't blame) but I'm still having same issue. Can you check the status about it  or something manually? Previously i had similar issue and someone from support team fixed it in a few minutes so hope it could be fixed the same way. Thanks

Hi,

I'm new in upwork. I was trying to add my bank account but was unable to because of one letter first name "M." (the same is on his legal documents as ID card, passport, and academic documents). my full name ( M. Prime - same as all legal documents ). 

 

Any solution to this?

Hi I might had a similar issue maybe this could help,

 

When I was signing up for upwork initially it copied the name and lastname I had for my email account which is Adrian without the "n" and when I was adding a bank account it is going on an error as It does not match the name on the account so I had to update the name on my profile which takes approximately 24-48 hours then reinitiate the Get paid part.

At my payment methods it says that the beneficiary name is mismatched, 

how its possible because my Bank account name (Farhan Mahboob) and name on upwork (Farhan Mahboob) are same. how its possible to beneficiary name is mismatch kindly approve my payment mathod as soon as possible.

I have also Share sceen shot you can see beneficiary name is matched.

Hello. I havent been active since setting up my account. Can you please help me understand why my Paypal (In Getting Paid Tab) is inactive?  Also, can I get paid when its inactive?

Thank you for reaching out to us.  It looks like the details were entered today. Please allow 48 hours for us to review the name mismatch on your account and please note that new payment methods will only be active after 3 days. During this time, you won't be able to withdraw funds yet.

Hello  48 hours passed that send email to support team, i did not get any support and my payment method still inactive please help me i have recheck there is no mistake in my bank details and i filled tax foram as well anyone can solve my problem? 5 days ago i have add my bank details

Hello there!

I have tried hundred times to connect my Paypal account to my Upwork account, but every time I get a message that the name of the Paypal account is different although it is the same!

What should I do in this case?

Hi Hadeel,

 

It looks like the name mismatch on your PayPal payment method has already been cleared! Please fill out your Form W-8BEN in order to activate it.

Hello, as in the topic, my old bank account I used before is now flagged as 'name mismatch'. The strange thing is that I've just added additional account and guess what it is  'name mismatch' as well. Normally I would open support ticket but I don't see a button to do it. After 5 minutes of trying to use BOT to tell me where this button is I gave up. Please don't tell me about cookies/firewall/antivirus and things like that, just open a ticket and escalate it to the right department.

Hi, I'm transgender and use a preferred name and I'm having an issue with verifying my bank account for payment because the beneficiary name on my payment method does not match the name on my profile. I even switched the name on my account back to my deadname just to try to get my bank account verified. Is there any way you can help with this, please? Thank you!

Hi Sara, 

I checked your account, and it looks like you already have a payment method in place, but you deleted an old payment method. Did you want to continue using the old payment method you deleted? If so, you can add it again to your account, and it will go through the same verification process. It should be completed within 48 to 72 hours. If the team requires more information, they will reach out to you directly. 

Don't worry. This process is working as designed, and verifying a freelancer's payment method is part of the process to keep Upwork a safe place for all users.
