Where do the connects go when we use them for proposals ( freelancer pov )? Do the clients recieve them or gain any benefit from our investment of connects ( freelancer pov )?

Upwork has made it a business. For new freelancers who can't afford purchasing connects its difficult to stay active and keep bidding once they run out of connects.

Upwork is a business initially. Created to gain money, not for volunteering.

When you use connects to submit proposals as a freelancer on Upwork, they are deducted from your available connects balance. Connects are essentially tokens that allow you to apply for jobs on the platform.
From the freelancer's point of view, the clients do not directly receive the connects you use for proposals. The connects are used solely to enable you to submit proposals for job opportunities that interest you. When you submit a proposal, it is up to the client to review and consider the proposals they receive. They do not receive any direct benefit or compensation from your investment of connects.
The purpose of connects is to ensure that freelancers are serious and committed to the job application process. By using connects, you demonstrate your interest and investment in pursuing the job opportunity. Connects help maintain a balanced and fair system for freelancers and clients alike.
