$2M Earned on Upwork. I would love to HELP!

Hey Everyone,

I posted this in the newbie group. I can answer newbie questions there,

I can help answer more advanced questions here, I would love to help my fellow freelancers : )

I have been on upwork for 12 years now (previously elance),

I have been on the forums for a couple years but never really participated much,

I figured, what better way than to help others, ask away, some stats below (you can also click to see my profile)

👉 Earned $2 Million+ on Upwork.
👉 Completed 400+ jobs on freelance platforms.
👉 Attained 200+ 5-star reviews.
👉 Worked 40,000+ hours on freelance platforms
👉 Earned a 100% Feedback Rating
👉 Worked with 1,000+ Clients

Thank You - Sam

Hello Sam

My profile was locked privately due to no earnings and not to find jobs..

They have already made your profile public.
I think you should do the ACADEMY courses to improve your profile.
The link is in the header here on the forum.

Hello Sam,

By the way, what can you say about my profile? Are they look good?

It does not look bad but it would be best to edit each section and make sure its completed.

The bulleted section of your post says it all, Samer. Send lots of the right proposals to the right jos, then provide stellar service, above and beyond what the client expects, to earn the 5 star ratings. Communication with the client is the most sacred of all rules once you are contacted, before and after you are hired.

Seems like newbies greatly underestimate, as I did, how much work it takes to do well here. You have to stay on it, and keep improving the quality of your proposals and your profile. Both need to grow and improve constantly. Never stop learning. Stay focused and believe in yourself.

Hey Martin,

That is correct. The key is to make sure your profile is complete + send proposals (lots of them).

From there, when you do get jobs, keep communication open and clear, updates and than get reviews / happy clients.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for doing this, greatly appreaciated...

I have been on and off this platform for years, I cannot catch a break unfortunatily, also I cannot seem to get any views, even though I have sent countless proposals.

Recently I have attempted to edit my profile as best as I could, however I must be doing something wrong...  Any assistance would be helpful...

Thanks and best regards.

Invites. At what point in your freelancing journey did you start seeing Invites come in, when people started looking for you? What is the criteria for that?

Thanks

Hey Martin, Initially, it was much better than it is now, competition has increased! For now, I just submit, submit and submit.

Hey Tanzirul,

I had a look at your profile and in general, it looks great. I would add a video and add more samples.

Samer B this is impressive. I would love to obtain help. I want to be the best sales, marketing, and LinkedIn expert possible. I am not about competing with anyone. I want to be the best by putting forth my greatest effort.

You can do it for sure. Read / watch and listen to everything you can get your hands on but more importantly, apply and test the strategies. As you know, a lot of the strartegies and methods become outdated quickly.

Hi Samer, after several months on the platform, I am starting to see that a trickle of invites have come in, and I hope it continues and increases. This is what keeps me going, the thought of having people seek me out, so this grind of the daily proposals will wane, and I'll land the ideal, long term stable of clients.

Is there truth to the statement that the Upwork algorithm looks for matches in both your profile and proposals when ranking your bid on a job? I would imagine so, so the goal then is to be the best match for the client, rather than having the proposal in first? Within reason of course.

Thanks
