Are ABN and BUSINESS NAME compulsory???

Hi!

I am working from Australia. Today I ve tried to get paid on Upwork and I ve seen that some tax informations are required. So I have some questions.

1- Do I have to have ABN number to get paid on Upwork? Is it optional or compulsory?

2- "Before withdrawing funds, all non-U.S. persons must provide their W-8BEN tax information.

Legal Name of Business :...."

I dont have a business name aperantly so can I fill here as my name and surname?

Hey there,

I am working from Australia too. You do have to have an ABN for tax purposes.

You can do that from here: https://www.abr.gov.au/business-super-funds-charities/applying-abn

Doesn't cost anything. The process is a bit time consuming though. You don't have to have a business name.

Your business name is simply your legal name.
