Blog content delivery

I'm a writer who is new to creating blog content for clients.  

How do clients like blogs to be delivered?  Is it okay to deliver in a Word document (including pics)?  Will the client be able to transfer that to their own blog?

Or do I need to create the content in some sort of web-page software?  If so, is it easy to save the page and deliver it to the client?

Sorry I'm clueless.
