Can I accept payment for materials outside of upwork?

I have aN active contract with a few milestones. One of which has released payment, the next is funded. Can I take payment for materials outside of upwork or do they need to take a cut of that as well?

you can take no payments for anything whatsoever at all outside Upwork at all for 2 years.

Ok that’s what I thought. Intuitively I thought there would be some Avenue for material payments without eating a cost.

Have the client pay the vendor directly for the materials and have them delivered to you, if that's possible.
