Hi,
Upwork Newbie here.
I have to cancel the first milestone of my first Upwork contract due to a family emergency (I am not going to be available at my workstation);
This is my first ever Upwork contract; Due date is 25th Nov; It was a fixed price job; The Client proposed a milestone and I accepted; Due to a family emergency, I will not be able to finish the project by the deadline.
How should I move forward? Don't want to hurt the client now and my profile
So, I want to end the contract; Will it affect my JSS/Profile when I get back and start looking for work again?

Hi Mohammad,
I am sorry to hear about this. It is always good to communicate and politely explain everything to your client to avoid any misunderstanding. You can discuss the terms of further engagement on the contract and attempt to resolve the situation amicably.
Please know that there are many factors that go into your JSS calculation including public and private feedback given when the contract is closed, a pattern of contracts without feedback, etc. To learn more about JSS, please check out this help article.
If you chose to end your contract, you can do so by following these steps:
Thank you,
