Create Website Using Client's Current Site or Your Own?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Upwork and trying to prepare fully for any work ahead of me.  Question:

When beginning to create a website for your client, do you ask them for their hosting provider login credentials and work out of their current site?

Or, do you work out of your own site and make the transfer when the project is completed?

In my experience I either use the client's current site or obtain the hosting provider/domain for them and include that price in my final invoice. 

Any recommendations or experiences you can share with me would be much appreciated.
