Delayed Payments for Top-Rated - Faster Payouts

Hello!

Is there a delay now on the Top-Rated salary availability?

Hi everyone, 


I understand why this can cause concern for some of you. Please know that cleared payments are released on Fridays by 5 a.m. UTC. If you live in another timezone, please calculate the time difference to determine when your payment will be available. We will also email you after your payment is applied and ready to be withdrawn.

If your client disputes your hours or their billing method cannot be successfully charged, your payment will be processed according to the Weekly Billing Cycle. You may visit this article for more information about Faster Payouts. 

If there are any specific issues related to this, we will update this thread. I can confirm that there are no reported issues that are affecting how these payments are processed.

Hi am top rated, i qualify to faster payouts, i am supposed to receive my hourly payments by friday, but for the week (18th to 24th march), I din't receive the payment last friday , but seems that my client has issues in his payment method so i didnt receive the payment and the contract was paused by upwork. So I have contacted my client, he has solved the payment method issues, but i didn't receive the payment yet , its status has moved to pending.

Also for the hours billed the last week to my client, when I check my transactions history , I see that the related transaction date is 10th of april , which means 10 days later not 5 as I qualify for faster payouts.

I've the same issue, I work for multi clients, one of them suddenly , the payment didnt released by friday , instead it still pending while all other clients fund is released succeffuly. 

I see there are many people suffer from the same fate, and I dont think its considence . this is happened during last payment cycle ... is there any offical statment or someone techincally investigating ?

Hi I am wondering why part of my earnings remain In Review today. It should be available usually on Friday as I am a Top Rated freelancer. And only the part of the earnings became available.

In my experience, it’s usually an issue with your client’s payment method. Consequently, Upwork will automatically pause your contract. You’ll need to coordinate with your client to resolve the issue on their end.

I am experiencing it right now, my earnings are still in review, usually, it is available for withdrawal at this time.

I'm sorry to hear your payment is still pending. If there are issues with your client's account, the payment will remain pending until the issue is resolved.  I would suggest that you discuss this with your client so that they can work on clearing the issue with their account, and pay you for the work you have completed. 

 

While we can't share any details, ask your client to communicate with our team to resolve the issue with their account and resume your payment.

I understand the importance of timely payouts and I am sorry to hear that your earnings is not available. Please know that all cleared payments on the contract with no dispute from the clients are paid to you on Fridays by 11:59 p.m. UTC.

My client's card could not be charged. Now it has been charged on this day (friday) but my hourly payment still shows as "In review", will I still get paid on wednesday? I am top rated plus

If payment will fail then Upwork team will review job within protection procedure. You will be paid or will see that you refunded. Just wait. At next week you will know results. No your action needed.

This is not what I mean

At friday early Toptated payments used. It works only if client paid already. This one didn't paid so you will be reviewed with main scope.

No this is not my question at all. Now that my client has paid I should get paid n 5 days as a top rated plus

I told them there was a glitch in their system, but they are not even considering this. This is happening to me with a specific contract every two weeks. They don't put the contract on hold, nor do they send an email to the client or freelancer explaining why those payments are under review. As a Top Rated Plus freelancer, we are supposed to be paid on Friday, but I am unsure what is happening.

I have a serious problem, and I am kind of angry while typing this.

 

I have been working with this client for almost 3 years, and recently, when I get paid on Fridays, Upwork holds my payments from this contract in review.

 

Then, after some hours, they email me about something going wrong with the contract, and they have paused it.My client also doesn't get any email about this.

 

I have to tell her in a message that something is wrong with the contract.

 

As I am typing this message, after Upwork held that contract's payments in review, I didn't even get an email explaining why.

 

It happens on Fridays mostly, then I have to ask the client to do something with her payment method and have to wait extra days to get paid.

 

Two weeks ago, Upwork put my contract on hold and accused my client of pausing it.

 

When I asked her about this, she said she didn't do a thing, and it really pissed her off.

 

It has happened many times before this year, especially, and now I have to ask her again to check her payment method or find out what went wrong.

 

Why did Upwork hold my payments in review and not inform me why?

I am a Top Rated Plus freelancer, and I always promote Upwork personally as one of the top and trouble-free freelancing platforms.

 

But I am not sure what I should do if my client gets annoyed and decides to leave Upwork. Whom am I going to blame?

Typically, earnings can stay in review if we encounter difficulties charging your client's billing method or if your client initiates a dispute for logged hours. Your client can resolve this matter by updating their card details or ensuring they have sufficient funds available. We'll attempt to charge the client's billing method for your earnings several times after the first failed attempt. If the card continues to fail, we'll temporarily place the contract on hold until the issue with the billing method is resolved. This measure is implemented for security reasons to safeguard your earnings.

 

I recommend reaching out to your client directly to resolve this issue. Alternatively, you can request your client to contact us directly if they believe there's no issue with their billing method. This will allow us to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

First, this is not my first time getting paid on Fridays. It's not a time zone issue, every week all my payments become available on Friday for the last year, and the payment problem only happens with this specific contract.

 

Second, the client has not opened any dispute about my hours. I checked with her, and she didn't even know that Upwork put the payments on hold because she didn't get any email from Upwork.

 

Third, the client said there were sufficient funds available in her account. Even if that's the issue, why didn't you email her or put the contract on hold?

 

I reached out to my client directly, and she is pissed and wants to leave the platform. I opened the topic here so you guys can fix it.

 

Why would she approach you when she doesn't even know the problem? Again, Upwork didn't email her about it, nor did they put the contract on hold.

 

So, I think you guys should manually check why this is happening because it is a pattern and happens almost every two weeks.

You will see that this problem occurs after every two weeks in 2024.

 

If the payment method is declined, usually Upwork puts that contract on hold until the client fixes it. Am I right?

 

My main problem is, why doesn’t Upwork send an email to the client or freelancer when they hold a payment for review?

 

I recommend the developer team get to the bottom of this because there is some issue with Upwork’s algorithm.

I earned top-rated, 

I want to benefit from this feature: Faster payments on hourly contracts

I only benefited from it once and was able to withdraw my money after 5 days, but in the last two experiences, the amount remains for 10 days until I can withdraw it.
What is the cause of this problem and how do I solve it?

Please know that all cleared payments are released on Fridays by 11:59 p.m., UTC. If your client pays later than 12:00 a.m. UTC, the payment will not be released early. In this case, you need to wait for 10 days to get your earnings credited to your Upwork account.

I hope you're all doing well. I am a top-rated freelancer on Upwork and recently encountered an issue with one of my clients. Despite regularly working with this client and using the Upwork timer for logging hours, I haven't received the payment this Friday as expected.


I'm looking for advice on the possible reasons behind this delay and how to resolve it. Has anyone else faced a similar situation? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Client's payment failed. You will be paid with main scope or reviewed within protection. No your action needed, just wait.

I have 3 contract. As an top rated seller I get early payment. But after one week I get my payment for two contract but other one is still In review. What is the issue?

Your other client most likely have an issue with their payment card. The next thing is that the contract will be paused by Upwork, but the notification you'll get will be that the client paused your contract. 

Upwork will thereafter review the hours you worked, if you used the time tracker, and pay you by themselves.
