1. That's true. Some clients don't find a freelancer they like here, or find a better one somewhere else, or break the TOS and go off platform, or have a change in priorities and table the project they posted about, or find out that the project they posted about is more complicated or more expensive than they'd hoped.
2. Because Upwork wants good paying clients to use Upwork, and many have said that they (like any reasonable business person) would not have used Upwork if they were forced to enter credit card information before knowing whether they would even want to do business here.
3. If you mailed a resume to a prospective employer and they ignored you, would you expect the post office to give back your stamps?
4. I don't understand why you would think you should get your connects returned if you're hired? That means they worked for you!
