Payment method removed

After reading about the dispute facts, there was a line saying Upwork will credit if client/freelancer does not respond to dispute in 3 days. How does that work if client/freelancer removes payment method or closes account?

It is not (ever) possible to remove the only payment method or close the account (while a dispute is in progress).

The escrow is automatically held and removed from reports when a dispute is filed. Nobody can get to it but Upwork.

 

They also reduced the response time to 2 business days.
