I got started on Upwork nearly a couple of months ago and I'm now beginning to get my first results.
I'm curious to know: how has your experience been so far?
Happy to be part of the community where we can connect and help each other! 🙂

Here's my story:
I started working at Upwork around 8-9 years ago. It was difficult for me at first because I worked full-time as a production planner in a company and at night as a lead generation specialist at home. And this way of life made me sick, and I ended up in the hospital for overwork. I decided to quit my ten-year job and work full-time at Upwork. I used to make $200 per month working for a company, but now I make at least $1400 per month working on Upwork. Thank God for this venue.

Yeah, when i started i also figured that to compete without reviews it was better to set the values low.
My first job was $25 now i'm asking in average $150 per image.😁

Hi Francesco. Welcome to Upwork! I started in July of 2016. I guess I'm an Upwork "old timer.' Haha.
So far.... it's a really positive experience for over 6 years and it's taught me about how to work well with people remotely. There are some slow times naturally, and some really busy times too. Also learned to choose to submit proposals for the right jobs (matching my skills, available time and rates). I think that Upwork really works hard to serve the needs of their talent. We pay for that but they offer a lot and they are always looking for how to their job better. In general I love not having to invoice clients. That is a huge convenience.

I have been on Upwork for going on 7 years now. Thankfully stumbled upon it my first year of consulting, as it has brought me great success. My portfolio has grown every year and now I probably garner at least half of my income from Upwork and even get to pick and choose projects. I recommend Upwork to everyone that is self employed or temporary out of work. There is a little of something for everyone.

Hi Francisco,
Some suggestions when we come as a Freelancer: Who have already started freelancing, as for you guys too I cannot emphasize the importance of this step enough. It’s never too late to start reaching out to people and expanding your network. If you have work to show for your efforts already, your outreach will go much further, a reason why this step should be repeated annually even once you are a successful freelancer. Keep yourself fresh in people’s minds and be their go-to person when they need a professional in your field.

Hi Francesco,
Don't be disheartened, it can be slow at the beginning but slowly you can build on your work and winnings.
It takes time and patience, I am still on my second client in 5 months. 🙈

Since 2011 when it was oDesk, then a multi-year 'hiatus' while working full-time/overtime for the govt, then returned 3 years ago in 2019 after the entire government imploded into the worst chaotic mess of a circus I have ever seen in my government career. I was part of a "mass exodus" "brain drain" of the govt that happened around that time 😊 1/3 of our entire IT department simply QUIT in a span of 6 months. and 2 other coworkers resigned the same day I did. Fun stuff, but you couldn't pay me enough to go back. The best way to solve a 'bad boss' problem is to just get rid of the boss, including the concept of having one

I started last year, it took a while to start getting clients but I've got the ball rolling now! It helped to do work outside of UpWork as well.
