What are the common mistakes to avoid when working with clients on Upwork?

1. Don't lift a finger until you're hired and/or a milestone is funded

2. Don't accept payment outside of Upwork

3. Don't think that you are entitled to getting jobs

4. Don't accept clients promising 5-star feedback

5. If they so much as mention Whatsapp, ghost them immediately.

Just to clarify here, Whatsapp is fine as long as a contract is set up before hand. Sometimes part of the job is communicating with several people on a team, which isn't possible with upwork messenger, especially if some of those people aren't upwork users. 

If they try to get you on Whatsapp (or Telegram, SMS, iMessage, Signal etc) BEFORE you have a contract, remind them of this. If they refuse, they are there to scam you.
