Lose freelancer and for hire in your headline, they are superflous. That's why we all are here, so...........

I like the idea of screenshots of your work, puff that up a bit and make 3 portfolio pieces out of the one, with a pretty thumbnail on top of it.

I have to be very strict with people offering anything related to writing - your text is your best selling point, and you completely give away that opportunity. It's too short, lacks effort and does not wow me one bit.

Your text needs to jump off the page and scream "hire me", it has to be that compelling.

Good pic!

Thank you for your comments.

No, since it's set to private. I can only comment on your picture, which could be better, more friendly and smiling.

Hi!  Could I get feedback on my profile?

Thank you,

Kim L

I'm new to Upwork and have not gotten any responses after submitting 5 or so proposals. I'd appreciate any feedback on my profile.

Thanks

Paul, that is an impressive resume. Consider changing you hourly rates to industry standards. It is tempting to lower rates to get your first client, but with a resume such as yours that hourly rate comes across as unusual. A quick search on Upwork indicates that most paralegals have their hourly rates in two digits and lawyers in three digits.

The overivew section is well-written but can be made client-focused. You could use some pointers from this article: https://www.upwork.com/resources/upwork-profiles-why-a-great-title-and-overview-can-make-a-differenc...

Good luck, I am sure you'll be a rising talent within no time.

Hello Aditi. Can you have a look at my profile.? I am new at upwork. Can you guide me a little bit?

Muhammad, thanks for your query. But at present, your profile is not ready for a human review. There are several typos, blank areas such as testimonials. Please read some available Upwork guides and take the time to complete it as best as you can and then have it reviewed.

(Disclaimers: I am not an Upwork employee but I like their guides. I feel the profile is not yet ready 🙂 but you may find other experienced freelancers who can provide a detailed analysis of your profile. So please check back again.).

Good luck, you will find clients eventually.

Thanks Aditi!

It's very good! Just lose the first 2 lines - a potential client will only see the first 2 lines before clicking on your profile if he is interested enough - that space is too valuable to waste on a greeting or an introduction.

Hello Dear

I am new here. I want to become a good freelancer in my field and i am very passionate about it but i don't know how to build adequate profile and how to bid for a project. It will be very helpful for me if you review my profile and give benificial suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Muhammad,

I've taken a look at your profile, and you're definitely off to a good start. Consider these few tips to make your profile more successful:

  • Think of the beginning of your profile overview as your first 200-character pitch. That means, your first sentence should include clear, relevant information about your primary skill sets and expertise. Also, make sure you proofread for any possible misspellings and errors, that'll show you pay attention to detail.
  • Skill tags help appear in relevant search results. Make sure you include more skill tags that reflect your skills, as well as order them by the primary/strongest skill first.
  • Lastly, I noticed you haven't added any portfolio items. Your portfolio is one of the most important profile components that clients review. Our research shows that missing portfolio pieces can be a negative signal for clients. Consider adding at least 3 relevant pieces. It might help to get more profile views. Check out this article.

Let me know if you decide to try these tips out!

Hi everyone! I'm a new freelancer on the platform.  I'm a motion designer and video editor with some experience in my craft but I'm totally in Upwork. I'm looking to "break-in" on this site. I'm a bit excited and nervous if I'm being honest.

So yeah, any advice for the newbie here I'm all ears.

No reason to be nervous, we were all new here once.

You have a good picture and portfolio. Maybe expand the text a little bit with a list of services you provide, or specific niches, and lose the greeting. The first 2 lines are the most important - the ones a reader will see until he clicks on your profile - so don't waste them. Make them irresistable!

Same goes for your proposals - tell the client how you will solve his problem and make his life easier.

Hi Juan Pablo,

Great job of including 3 portfolio items; that really helps get more views! In the future, consider linking items in your portfolio with Upwork projects.

I noticed that your availability is set to "As Needed". This can mean a lot of different things, and sometimes Clients can misinterpret it. I'd advise opting out for a "less than 30" or "more than 30" option.

Note that precise titles make a difference, and when it comes to your overview, mention specialized software or tools. You can also check out this article to learn more.

Hope this helps!

Kindly check my profile and suggest changes if any.Havent able to get any project yet.

Hello everyone, I'm also relatively new to Upwork, but I would appreciate any review of my profile! Much appreciated!

Hi Hrenciuc,

I see you've already added portfolio items, created specialized profiles, and ensured you really use each section of the profile, and that's great!

What stood out to me is your title. Adjust it to be more descriptive rather than listing every service you offer.

Also, note that profile photos make a strong first impression. Consider updating yours by adding one that has a higher resolution, in which you're making eye contact with the camera and have a more welcoming facial expression.

Feel free to follow up in case you have more questions about your profile!

hello hope that you are doing good . need your expert feed back on my profile . i shell be thankful

Hello everyone! I am having issues with getting answers to my proposals in the past month. I've just hit the 1k+ on my earnings this month, but I've not had much luck with getting any new clients, and wanted to ask if the community might look over my profile and tell me what I am doing wrong.

This is my profile: https://www.upwork.com/o/profiles/users/~01f9247c0909fb6ca1/

This is an example of how I write my proposals:

Screen Shot 2020-09-18 at 8.43.37 AM.png

Recently I've rewritten my title and description and also went for a 15$/hr rate (from 20). My stats look like this:

Screen Shot 2020-09-18 at 8.33.06 AM.png

My stats are only just moving, used to be lower, but now I am getting viewed and interviewed slightly more.

If anyone has any insights, would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Thank you very much, Nadja! Yup, I've always thought my photo wasn't suitable, and my title was too dense. I will implement these changes. Thank you once again 😄

Hi Sohaib,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having trouble getting projects on Upwork! On average, it takes more than 5 proposals for each won opportunity, so I encourage you to keep searching for jobs!

When it comes to your profile, I believe you're off to a good start and could work on the following:

  • Your overview could benefit from having more info about your background, experience, preferred working style, business values, etc. These are just some of the examples that Clients like to see in the overview, but it's up to you what you decide to include.
  • Also, I noticed you added 1 portfolio item. To showcase all your skills and expertise, consider adding at least 2 more project items.
  • And, adjust your title to clearly and precisely describe not only your services but the skill you specialize in. Check out why that's important.

Let me know if you have success with these tips.

Hello! I am interested in having some people look over my profile. I have not made any proposals yet, and I am still waiting on some testimonials from some previous clients and colleagues. In the meantime, I thought I would have someone take a look at my profile, its content and my overall readiness to start making proposals. Thank you!

Good picture, but a neutral background would be better. I'm getting a wedding vibe with this one.

Your text is too short. Expand it and use the specialised profile to add more. Better than designer would be presentation designer, as there are tons of logo and other designers on the platform, so make that clearer. Put some nice thumbnails on the portfolio pieces to grab attention (pics that you own the copyright of).

Finally, I expect a writer's profile to blow me away with his text, and I'm not. Take a few hours and refine, polish, dazzle.

Save those connects! Your potential clients will want to see your prior work, so get on that portfolio section and put in as many great examples as you have.

Picture with neutral background would be better.

Hi Imran,

Thanks for reaching out for the help of more experienced freelancers! I'm sure there are some a lot more experienced than myself, but here's what stood out to me when I looked at your profile:

First, I noticed your profile completeness is at 40%. To learn how to make it 100%, and why that's important, check out this article.

Second, consider improving your profile photo by taking one with a plain background, that's cropped to include only the top of your shoulders and your head, and where you're having a more welcoming facial expression.

And, try to be clear about your availability. "As Needed - Open to Offers" can carry a lot of different meanings, so try to opt for "less than 30" or "more than 30" and see if this will help you get more views and invites.

Other than that, you're off to a good start, good luck!
