Is everything on here a scam?

I am new to this site and the first place that I've applied for sounds sketchy. Shes been texting me outside the platform and ignoring my questions. I was wondering if I was just unlucky on my first contact

No - most jobs on here are legitimate. But there are scammers, and they swarm to new people. There's a pinned post at the top of this forum on Getting Started at Upwork. Read the material there, especially about avoiding questionable jobs. If this first job seems like a scam, there's a button to report it on the job post. Use that, and then move on to the next one.

Also, be aware that communicating with a client off the platform or sharing contact information before you have a contract isn't allowed anymore.
