Hello,
When I was filling out my profile, the skills section required me to choose something from the drop down list. I have none of these skills. So, I have two questions:
1. How do I bypass this, and
2. How do I remove Adobe Creative Suite? (which I entered because I didn't know what else to do?)

Hi Shira,
Clients are charged for the payment processing fee, which is different than the Upwork service fee freelancers are billed for. You can find more details in this Help article.

Hello Shira,
I just checked your account and I could see that you are still not done creating your profile. You must select the main services you are offering to your clients, the types, and other services you would like to offer to your clients. You must select at least one in order to create a profile. You may type something in the drop-down field to find the specific skill you want to choose. Thank you. Please see screenshot attached.

Hello Ryan,
That's right, I haven't finished. Part of that is because I can't get the skills thing to work (thanks for the screenshot, but it's still stuck), and also because I still need to figure out what to charge per hour (and I may first need tax advice).
Any further help on the first item would be appreciated.
Thanks.

No problem!
I actually forgot to add in the 3rd reason why I'm not done my profile. Maybe you can help me with this: I've read the information on the Upwork fees, but I don't understand. Let's say I give an $80/hour rate, does that mean the fee is 20% of that? And that I need to build that into my financial plan, on top of my expenses and taxes?
Thanks!

Hi Shira,
If for example your rate for an hourly or fixed-price contract is $80, you will be charged the freelancer service fee of 20% until you reach the $500 treshold with a client you are working with. You may read more about it here.
I would suggest that you consult with a local financial/tax advisor on how you can figure in the fees into your financial plan.

Hi Avery,
Thanks. I will look into it with a tax specialist. In the meantime, do clients generally appreciate this fee, and is it the same as a fee they would encounter if they hired a freelancer offline?
