Go through the site and familiarise yourself with Upwork Terms of Service and how to identify scams. There is a lot of information here that can help you. Find a reasonable rate for customer service. You won't get any offer at $700 per hour.

Hey Nsutoima,
I'm glad you're looking for information before you start.
One thing to know is that there are quite a few scam job posts on the platform at the moment. If you know what to look for they're easy to avoid. The scam jobs usually ask you to communicate outside the Upwork platform using apps like Telegram, Whatsapp or Skype. If you avoid applying to jobs like that and you avoid having interviews with people who try to get you to communicate outside the platform, you should be fine. But it's good to be informed about the different types of scams you can run into so you'll know what to do if you run across one.

It's good to get to know the information on the legal pages. This tells you what you can and can't do on Upwork.

If you're new to freelancing, it's good to learn more about contracts. On Upwork, there are two types: fixed-rate and hourly.
