Hi All,
Thank you for reaching out to us and bringing this to our attention. I would like to let you know that our developers have investigated the issue you reported regarding not being able to add a URL to your portfolio, and they have determined that the feature is working as expected. We recognize that the URL you are trying to add points to a website, but there are two reasons that can prevent the respective URL from being successfully added.
The first reason is that, we require http or https within all inputs. Therefore, absent an http or https within your URL, the input will not be accepted.
The second reason -which is likely more relevant- is that depending on how a website was created, we may not be able to generate a preview. Typically, this impacts dynamically created websites.
Given this, if we cannot generate a preview from your URL, then we unfortunately cannot accept that respective URL. Currently, we do not have any workarounds to accept these types of URLs. Notably, we are continuing to review this issue but we do not have any timeframes as to when or if any enhancements will be made to support the URLs that do not generate previews.

Hello Upwork Team,
I am adding a portfolio in the portfolio section of my profile. All content is working well, but when I try to add a web or website link. It is not adding. I am getting an error of "unable to get a preview" as you can see in the image. And my links are also valid and correct. I have been facing this error for the last 2-3 days. How can I solve this error? Please give me the best solution for this.

Has anyone received any work around for this issue? Almost all of the work I have to provide to my profile is published online and I really want to be able to share the links there.

Just add the required Open Graph attributes to your index page, and it should let you add your sites. At least, that worked with my Angular apps.

**Edited for Community Guidelines**Hi,
When trying to add a webpage link to my portfolio section I'm getting the following error message:
Unable to get a preview. Please try again later.
I've tried it using different HTTPS URLs and on multiple portfolio items. None work and I get the same error message with each one.
I've checked your guidelines and it doesn't seem like I am violating any of them.
Screenshots attached
Thank you,
Greg

I tried adding links for Google and Amazon but received the same error.
When I post to social media or send an email containing one of my URSs, I get a preview.

If you can, try adding the meta tags in your page for the minimum Open Graph attributes, here you can check them https://ogp.me

You should specify more about what a site needs so you can generate a preview. In my case, I fixed the error just by adding the minimum required Open Graph attributes to my index page for my Angular apps, but it would be helpful to inform users about this when adding a link in our portfolios.

I have a couple of apps built in Angular, and I got the same error when trying to add the links in the portfolio. However, I was able to fix the error by adding the required Open Graph attributes (title, type, url, and image). After that, I was able to add my sites without any problem.
