Client Asking for a copy of my government ID?
I was given a contract out of the blue so I asked to meet with the client before accepting the contract. We met over Zoom, and even though the client had his camera off, it sounded legit, so I accepted the contract. Then, he wrote saying that before he could give me access to the accounting system in order for me to perform the work, he wanted to confirm my identity with a copy of a government ID. I wrote back saying that Upwork has already confirmed my identity and that is shown on my profile. Has anyone else had this request and how did you handle it?
