Scamm

With a client, I was in a meeting.
It had been a scam.
What must I do right now?

Hi Asifa K.,

Don't go outside UpWork. It's not safe. Also, it's against the UpWork rules.

Scammers target freshers and post jobs where they get more proposals. For example Data Entry Jobs, Typing Jobs etc. Be careful if you do this kind of jobs.

Before starting the work...

Know what not to do here.

For Example...

  • Don't go outside UpWork no matter who calls you. Do the work in UpWork.
  • Do not share any of your personal contact information.
  • Don't ask for money/5 star rating in message box. and etc.

If you need an answer to any question, search your question first in the community. If you don't get an answer, post your question. Because you will get late reply when you post.

The most important thing fo you to do is to learn from your mistakes and not make the same mistakes again in the future.

Aside from that, if the job posting is still online, you can click on "Flag as inappropriate" to report it.

Hi Pretson, I don't make mistakes. I send a proposal for a job, then he offers to have contact outside the platform.

Excellent advice Vijayakumar!! Thanks!!

When a client wants to work outside the platform, you refuse politely as  he or she is violating Upwork's terms of service, and the best thing to do is to report the client to Upwork.  That is all you need to do.  The links that Vijayakumar posted are good places for beginners to learn more about the site and possible scams.

Despite being new to Upwork, I have read the

Terms & Conditions in their entirety.
