I did some app beta testing for a company and all the sudden the contract was paused and the client stopped responding. Does anyone have experience with upwork pausing a contract and the explanation being paused by upwork?

The client can pause your contract. If the contract is not paused by your client, it means the client has few verifications with Upwork. Is the client new to the platform?

Hi David,
If the client pause a contract, that will not show "contract on hold via Upwork".

If your contract is hold via Upwork (according to your post's title), most probably problem is from client side. I've assumed your client may fail to pay Upwork.

Hi Andrew,
If there is a problem with your client’s Upwork account, your contracts with them will be paused and you cannot continue to bill that client through Upwork until the issue is resolved. There are many possible reasons this could occur, although we can’t share the specifics regarding your client’s account due to privacy concerns.
