REQUEST: Alternate Verification Method(s) for Non-Upwork Client Testimonials

This is less a question for the community and more an effort to ring the bell on an issue many of us have encountered.

When a freelancer requests a client testimonial, Upwork requires that client to have a LinkedIn profile for identity verification. Identity verification is fine, but LinkedIn as the only means of doing so is restrcitve because not every client has a LinkedIn profile. Asking a client for a testimonial is already an inconvience – no one is going to ask their client to ALSO create a LinkedIn profile.

REQUEST TO UPWORK: make alternate methods of verificaton available to clients for testimonial submission (i.e. Facebook, Google Business Profile, etc.).

FREENLACERS: If you're seeing this, it's likely becuase you have ancountered the same issue. Comment on this thread. Voice your concern. Ask for change.
