I am a new voice over artist and I am looking for gigs to gain some experience. When there is a job posting that is more than 10 days old (i.e. 1 Month etc), however, a hire has not been made yet. Is it worth still sending a proposal? Or would this be a waste of connects. Any thoughts or best practices would be great.

99 percent of the time, it would be a waste of connects. Personally, I rarely bid on anything that's more than a day old.

I think that makes perfect sense. I will definitely make this the rule of thumb. Thank you!!!

Some unsolicited advice. Your hourly rate is way too low. I wouldn't believe that someone is an experienced professional if they're only charging $10/hour. Also, separate your voice work and coaching work into specialised profiles (don't start a new account, just add these to your existing account). And, you'll need a demo reel if you want voice work - no point in bidding on projects without one.

This is great feedback. I am new to voice over and I have completed 2 contracts, but I'm not work I'm allowed to use that work as a sample. Do you have a suggested hourly rate to use being a newbie, but professionally trained?

Hey Stephanie, the average time to hire on Upwork is 3 days. No don't waste your time if 3 days or older. Thanks!
