The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.

If you’re interested in requesting help, make sure your profile visibility is not set to “Private” and then reply below.

We’re excited to see how Community members can continue to help each other to grow!

Note: A previous version of this post was closed as the number of responses made it difficult to read and navigate. If you had not received a response yet to a request you made, please post again in this thread.

Kazi Abdul,

Your experience is similar to that of hundreds of thousdands of freelancers.  Competition is high, so it is a challenge to win new jobs. There is nothing wrong with your Upwork account, but your profile could use some updates.

For example, the first paragraph in your overview/summary is focused only on you, when it should be focused on clients:

Hi there, Welcome to my profile. As you are seeing my name is Kazi Abdul Motaleb and I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have completed my B.Sc in Comuputer Science and Engineering from an well know private university named Sonargaon University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have completed my Diploma in Engineering (4yrs) certificate in Computer Technology from Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

I would remove everything in the first paragraph because it does not tell clients about your services and how you can help them. Clients can only see the first two sentences of your summary when they search for freelancers. This means, you have very little space--only two sentences--to get their attention and convince them to click. Mentioning your name, location, diplomas, and college names in the first two sentences will not get a client's attention.

Gnaneshwar,

Correct the spelling errors in your title and capitalize the first letter of each word to help it stand out: Graphic Design | Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, CorelDraw

You should consider adding Graphic Design to your skills list since you use it in your title and summary. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

Garrin,

Very nice profile!

I looked through each section of your profile and everything looks great. I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

Ali,

I think your profile looks good.

I would remove"hello" from the first line in your overview/summary. I think your summary will get more attention if "hello" is removed and the first thing a client sees is, "Are you looking to elevate your online presence and drive more traffic to your website?"

Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Everything else looks good.

Hi Jakob,

Your profile does not have enough information to convince clients to hire you. Clients are looking for freelancers who can help them get results, and your profile is the best platform to explain how you can help them reach their goals.

First, correct the spelling of your title. Copywritwer  - > Copywriter. Then, add more information to your overview/summary about your copywriting experience; add more details about the services you provide (i.e., articles, blogs, etc.); and tell clients why you are the best option for them

Make sure your profile is 100% complete before applying to jobs. The best way to complete your profile is to go through the following Academy Courses and Learning Paths:

There is a review of your profile above.

Hi upwork team everyone, how are you. My name is Shah Alam. I am new to
Upwork. Upwork My proposal is not accepted after sending this job proposal.
Can anyone please help me?

Community Member

Shah,

Neither freelancers nor moderators can help determine what happens when you send proposals. Clients may or may not view your proposals, but you must continue to send proposals and write great cover letters to win jobs.

For tips on cover letters, read through Upwork's best practices on How To Write a Cover Letter.

Legese,

The best way to get started is to ensure your profile provides valuable information for clients. In your profile overview/summary, start by telling clients which marketing management services you provide and specific things you can do to help them. Your summary starts with information about your college degrees and your personal backgrounds. Clients do not care about these as much as they care about the services you can provide to help them meet their goals.

Since you are new to Upwork, make sure your profile is 100% complete before applying to jobs. The best way to complete your profile is to go through the following Academy Courses and Learning Paths:

Joshua,

Most clients are looking for data entry professionals with experience, so it can be very difficult to win jobs if you have no data entry experience.

To sound more convincing, talk about your approach to providing data entry, web research, etc. Talk about your timeliness, accuracy, and ability to communicate effectively. Also talk about how you respect deadlines and can help maintain quality standards. Remember--you are competing with hundreds of thousands of data entry specialists, so clients need a reason to choose you.

Add a portfolio to show samples of data entry and data research. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Good luck!

Mansoor,

Nice credentials. I think your profile looks good, but I have three suggestions:

1) I recommend removing the first line in your overview/summary: "Mansoor Ahmed - Your Expert in Administration, HR, and IR/ER"

Why? Because only the first two sentences of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. This means you have very little space to grab their attention, and you want to fill that space with meaningful words--words that show clients you can provide services that meet their needs. You don't want to waste that space with your name and slogan--clients can see your name on your profile.

2) Add a portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

3) You may want to add one or two Specialized Profiles that focus on your different specialities. Clients are often looking for freelancers with specific skills to meet specific needs. Since writing/content creation, digital marketing, and translation/language services are not necessarily related, some clients might be confused about your services. You can create a specialized profile that focuses on writing/content, and another specialized profile focused on translation/language services.

welcome profile feedback and how to purchase additional credits! Attached resume for point of reference.

Candice,

When you say additional credits, I'm assuming you're talking about Connects. If so, you can purchase additional Connects here or go to your Membership page under your profile.

Overall, I think your profile makes a good start.

Correct the spelling of devlopment development in your first sentence. Correct the spelling of intrgrated integrated in the first sentence of your second paragraph, and curiousity curiosity in the first sentence of your last paragraph.

You might want to add a portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Be sure to check your skills list to ensure it lists all skill categories relevant to your digital marketing work. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

Hi Geff,

Andrea is an Upwork Moderator. The moderators provide valuable information to freelancers and moderate the Forums, but they do not provide profile reviews.

Your profile looks okay, but you should refocus your overview/summary on clients instead of your own experience. Clients expect to read about your skills and qualifications, but they really want to know how your skills/qualifications will benefit them. Tell clients which specific accounting/bookkeeping tasks you will provide to them.

Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking a minimum of 10 business days. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.

Shamim,

Welcome to Upwork.

The best way to find freelance work is to make sure your profile is 100% complete before you apply to jobs.

You should remove the first line in your overview/summary: "Professional Profile SENIOR MANAGERIAL PROFESSIONAL - Sales & Marketing" since this provides no real value when clients read it.

Also, add a portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Hi Murtiyana,

Welcome to Upwork.

Your profile makes a good start, but your overview/summary needs to tell potential clients more about your services. You say you can use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook to manage documents, and convert PDF files into Word, but a data entry/personal assistant with accounting/bookkeeping skills can do more than that.

Talk about other tasks you can complete; how you will work with clients to help improve efficiency, streamline their business processes, and increase productivity. Then tell them why you are the best choice to meet their needs.

Your portfolio and skills, and other areas look fine. I think the biggest thing is to update your summary. Clients expect to read about your skills and qualifications in your summary, but they really want to know how your skills/qualifications will benefit them.

all freelancer looking for help to get first job or to improve  professional profile

They can view my profile to make impressive professional profile  and how to mention the skills & tools

Muhammad,

The best thing you can do to your profile is refocus your overview/summary on clients instead of yourself. Your summary speaks a lot about your experience, but you never tell potential clients how you can help them. Clients expect to read a little about your skills and qualifications, but they really want to know how your skills/qualifications will benefit them.

Use your summary to talk about the applications you can build and how those apps will benefit clients. Talk about your success building websites and complex web applications for other clients, and why you are the best Java developer they can hire.

The other areas of your profile look good, but it will take a few more jobs with great positive feedback to boost that 77% JSS.

Good luck!

Arun,

Welcome to Upwork.

I think your profile has a good approach. You give potential clients a value proposition and provide a list of services. Also, your portfolio and skills list look good.

Your job at JP Morgan sounds significant, so I would add short job description. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

The other areas of your profile look fine. I do not see any huge problems that would prevent a client from hiring you.

Good luck!

Hello,

Please can you help review my profile? https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~01ecd7f4a1de1c0942

I have been a member since 2018 but have been quite inactive due to my full-time job. Now that I am a full-time freelancer, it's been super hard to get any gig on Upwork.
