Dear Somadina:

Its look nice, some more improvements can be applied. like acheivements, certifications etc. You can see my profile to get help.

Regards.

Thank you so much for your feedback Faraz, I will check your profile right away.

Hi Somadina,

Your profile updates look good. I have a few more suggestions for updates:

Portfolio: Your portfolio looks good, but I would add one or two more items to it. Clients always expect several samples from designers and developers. Of course, if you don’t have your own relevant examples to add, you can create a few screenshots of items that demonstrate your skillset.

Skills: We are allowed up to 15 skills and I think you should add a few more relevant skills. For example, Front-End Development is a good skill category to add because it is relevant to your work.

Employment History: Add short job descriptions for each job in your employment history, especially since those jobs are relevant to your web development work on Upwork.

Everything else looks good for now!

Thank you so much Clark. I really appreciate your feedback. I will make necessary adjustment immediately. Best Regards.

Hello Upworkers 🙂

Im new to Upwork, its been about 2 weeks now. Ive spent about 100 connects and submitted 11 propasals, Ive done a few of the courses, I make sure I bid low. I havent recieved any work yet, or even any interviews.

May I kindly ask if my profile looks good, is my portfolio good enough?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated 🙂

It is incredibly difficult to get traction on Upwork. To me (ignorant techie that I am) your profile reads well, so I think it's a question of perseverance.  Two things to remember though, is that clients only see the first three lines of your proposal before looking at the rest, so don't waste valuable real estate by formal beginnings (Dear sir/madam etc. ) or restating your qualifications. As far as is possible, tell the client - as per their offer - what you can do for them.  The other thing is don't bid too low - bid what you are worth, or just a fraction lower. The most difficult clients, in my experience, have been the poor payers, and the ones who try to get you to do more than they are prepared to pay, you could end up in the difficult situation of having to end a contract because you can't make ends meet on a client's budget.

Thanks so much for the advice Nichola, really appreciated. Ill keep on perservering and hopfully Ill get a bite 🙂

You're welcome ...

Richard,

Two things: Take out "New to Upwork." That may be true, but it's up to you to be a pro. It's not up to your clients to be forgiving because you're new.

Second: You misspelled experience. You wrote "New to Upwork with 15 years design experiance."

Good luck.

Hello Richard,

I agree with Nichola's assessment. Your profile is fine, but it is difficult to win jobs in the web development skill area. There are thousands upon thousands of WordPress Developers here, so getting jobs is always a challenge.

Your cover letters are important. Keep applying to jobs by writing focused cover letters. Always create a custom cover letter based on the client's specific job requirements. Focus on the client's needs and requirements; highlight your qualifications; and tell the client how you will meet their needs. Hopefully, you get some wins soon!

hi mam plzz spots me

Sameer,

If that's your best effort, I don't think you'll get very far as a writer in English.

Your write-up has a lot of grammatical flaws. You even made three mistakes with your job title. It's "I am a content creator," not "i am a contant creater."

Hello Upwork Community,

Pls I would really appreciate it if you review my profile and give me feedback on it. It is now on public view, Clark S sorry about that.

Thank you.

Adaobi,

Good job!

You need more paragraph breaks. This gives people a rest as they are reading something. I'll cut and past your write up and put in a few more logical breaks. You can use this or create more of your own choosing.

Hi Rizjane,

The first thing I noticed about your profile is the competing skill areas: Nursing and Technical Support. You need to separate these to keep from confusing clients.

Title and Overview/Summary: If you are providing nursing/medical support services, I suggest your main profile title be Registered Nurse or Nursing Support Specialist or Nursing Consultant. Then, you may want to create a Specialized Profile that focuses on technical support. Doing this will allow you to submit your main profile (Nursing) when applying to nursing jobs and your specialized profile (Technical Support) when applying to tech support jobs.

After you separate these, focus your main profile (Nursing) on the nursing services you can provide to clients. For example, I would revise your first paragraph to speak direclty to clients:

I'm a Registered Nurse with 5 years of hospital experience creating care plans for all nursing diagnoses. I can provide recommendations and assistance covering Medical Ward, Pediatric Ward, Surgical Ward, Delivery Ward and Emergency Room.

As a nurse, I have a passion for serving and helping others. If you need online medical assistance or reminders, I can help.

Skills: The same separation is needed for your skill categories. Select relevant skill categories for your main profile (Nursing). Then, in your Tech Support specialized profile, select only customer service/technical support skill categories. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

I think that's it for now. Once you make these updates, I think your profile will be in better shape and clients will better understand which services you provide.

Hello moderator, how can I secure my first job , help me secure this ,

celgins
Community Member

Hello Emmanuel,

The Upwork moderators provide valuable information to freelancers and moderate the Forums, but they do not help freelancers secure jobs. The best way to secure a job is to learn as much as you can about the platform.

The first thing you need to do is rewrite your profile summary and focus on a specific skill area or service. Right now, clients will be confused about what you are offering and how you can help them. Are you a programmer, an article writer, or data entry specialist? Neither of these are related, and clients need freelancers who have specific skills and experience to complete specific jobs.

Since you are new to Upwork, make sure your profile is 100% complete before applying to jobs. At a minimum, you should do the following:

Hello! Upwork Community,I have sent many proposals but did not get a job. Please review my Profile and give feedback.

Thanks

Hello Haseeb,

I see several issues with your profile that need correction:

Photo: The first thing you should do is change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.

Title: If you choose to use the word "professional" in your title, you need to correct the spelling. However, I suggest you remove the word where you title is: Urdu | Punjabi | English | Arabic | Translator & Writer.

Overview/Summary: Your summary is concise and you do a good job of telling clients which services you can provide. However, there are several grammatical errors that need correction. (See below)

I'm a certified, expert Translator who provides accurate translation of documents including English to Urdu and Urdu to English. I can provide document translations and also write professional articles in Urdu or English covering a wide range of topics.

I can help your business by expertly preparing, managing and translating your data and documentation, and creating accurate materials in Urdu and English using your desired voice.

Need documents translated quickly and accurately? Contact me and let's discuss. I am available 24/7. Thanks a lot for your time.

Skills: You should add more relevant skill categories to your list. Urdu and English are good, but you should also add Urdu to English Translation and English to Urdu Translation.

The rest of your profile looks fine.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your assistance to further improve my profile.

Here is the link: https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~0179ed64adcc02ef9d?viewMode=1

Thank you.

Hi Donabelle,

I looked through your profile and I think it's good. I have a couple of suggestions though:

Photo: Your profile photo isn't bad, but I suggest changing it to picture of you taken with a phone camera or other camera. The picture should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. We can see your face in the photo, but it's obvious to clients that it's a photo of a photo. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.

Overview/Summary: Your summary is good, but I think the first paragraph could be revised slightly to keep the focus on clients. Also, I would remove the words "freelance" and "freelancer" and refer to your profession. For example:

Are you in need of professional and reliable virtual assistance services? Look no further! I am an experienced Virtual Assistant dedicated to providing exceptional solutions tailored to meet your specific needs. I can help you with bookkeeping, procurement, data entry, transcription services, and other administrative tasks, with a focus on delivering outstanding results.

Here's a glimpse of what I bring to the table:

(Everything after this is  great)

In your Dropshipping & Order Processing specialized profile, capitalize each first letter of the words in your title: Administrative Clerk (Accounting and Logistics). Also, you should revise the summary in this specialized profile to make it flow like your main profile. Meaning, don't simply tell clients that you have experience with accounting/bookeeping--tell them that you can provide these services efficiently, on-time, and can help streamline business operations, improve workflow, etc. Anything that benefits the client will work.

Portfolio: I think you should add a few more items to your portfolio to demonstrate your skills/experience. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Skills: Unless you are providing Flash to HTML5 conversion services, I would remove Adobe Flash from your skill categories. Flash is no longer supported (on most platforms) so including it in your profile is unnecessary. Plus, we are allowed up to 15 skills, so you might want to add other relevant skill categories like Virtual Assistance. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

Everything else looks good.

Hello Clark,

Thank you for checking the every detail of my profile. I appreciate it and will surely adopt all of your suggestions.

Surjeet,

Andrea is an Upwork Moderator. The moderators provide valuable information to freelancers and moderate the Forums, but they do not typically help freelancers get work. Andrea would probably refer you to the many resources available to freelancers that will help you better position yourself to win jobs:

"Hello Upwork community, I'm looking for suggestions on improving my Upwork profile.

https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~01fa0d95d8ebd7d088

I'm new in Upwork, worried about if my profile is good enough to sent a proposal in any job

celgins

Hello Emerald,

The start of your profile is okay, but you should add more information to your overview/summary. There are some grammatical errors in your summary, but you do a good job of telling clients which services you can provide. But you should add more information to help clients decide if you are the best freelancer for the job.

You can add more information about your skills/experience, and maybe more about the services you provide to clients. For example:

I'm an expert Administrative Assistant/Secretary with _____ years of experience who enjoys helping businesses and organizations optimize their most important administrative job. l can help you with any administrative task--from business engagement, encoding and data entry to filing documents, business proposal presentation, and customer service.

Are you tired of feeling like you're drowning in a sea of assignments and responsibilities? I can offer immediate support that reduces your workload, streamlines your administrative processes, and increases efficient. As an administrative professional, I offer a range of skills and services that will ensure your administrative jobs are well-managed and completed on-time with accuracy and efficiency.

No matter how small the task, I am eager to get it done with 100% complete satisfaction. Contact me and let's discuss your needs and how I can help.

You also need to add more skill categories to your skills list, but only if they are relevant to your administrative assistance services. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

These updates should be enough to get your profile in better shape.

After you make these updates, start applying for jobs that match your qualifications and skills by writing great cover letters. In your cover letters, always make sure you create a custom response based on the client's job. Focus on the client's specific points in their job description; highlight your qualifications; and tell the client how you will meet their requirements.
