Hey guys,
this is my first time posting here.
I am on UpWork for a few month now, and it starts to get a little bit momentum.
This week I will breach the 1000 Dollar total earnings.
However, I am still pretty unsatisfied, how few of my proposals come back with an interview invitation.
Could you guys give me a short review of my profile?
What do you like?
What dont you like?
What would you change?
I would appreciate any Feedback!

There are no difficulties for Ukrainians to speak both Russian and Ukrainian languages well.
There is a huge difference in being able to speak well a language, and to being able to write in this language with a native proficiency. Ukrainian grammar is different than Russian for instance.

Nidhi,
You are mostly telling your client what KNS can do (and they already have this in their own profile) but you don't say what you actually do for them, or what you can offer a potential client. The list is OK, but you need to expand on it.

Hi Juan,
I think your portfolio is great, and you have very good reviews from your previous clients. You also have 2 ongoing projects which is good. I would recommend that you change your overview to correct the grammatical errors. You may share more about your experience, skills, and the tools you use to be successful in your projects.
I'm happy to share with you some of our educational videos and blog posts, and best practices shared by other users, to help you get started on Upwork
I hope this will help. Good luck!

Hi,
Can anyone check my profile and tell me where I need improvement?
Thanks in advance.
Jul 9, 2016 05:41:39 AM by Maria T
Hi,
I do not know much about profiles of writers but I think you should list your skills and, as you mention that take many years working on this, add some examples in your portfolio.
Perhaps if you visit some profiles of other freelancers working in your same niche, you will get an idea of how to improve yours.
Good luck!

From your profile:
Have 2 years of Experience as a Translator (English<--------->Urdu).
No way. English into Urdu? Maybe. Urdu into English? Certainly not.
And:
English: Native or Bilingual
What? Taking clients for idiots will not help you. Everyone who reads your profile can see that you are neither bilingual nor native in English. Which is not a problem by the way, but if you lie about this, nobody will trust you in anything.
And for the rest of your profile, you are trying to be a Jack of all trades, with no real marketable skills. Good luck to get a client.

One more thing, your portfolio, when you show a screenshot, please remove all the redundant things such as task bar, your browser's bookmark, etc.. I don't know what others think but I personally hate these things in the screenshots.

@Sabrina i -- I think it is an excellent idea to begin with "You are here because..." It is attention-getting; it is active voice; and it is to-the-point. Certainly that beginning to your profile suggests what you can do for a client!
Your command of English is good. And you are not over-selling yourself as being "native."
Nice portfolio! Check the spelling of "kindergarten."
Good luck!

Hello.
These days I readjusted thumbnails in my portfolio, added more detailed descriptions to portfolio items and rewrote the overview section for a more detailed description of my services.
May I ask to review the profile?
Suggestions and critique are welcome.
Thanks.

You write $2 articles. Everyone and their mother does it so you're just a drop in the ocean with no real distinguishable advantages.

You have a lot of below average tests showing on your profile. You probably want to hide those and then re-take the most relevant ones when you are able (I believe it's a 30-day delay).
If you're new to the site, don't worry too much. It takes a bit to get off the ground. If you've already been at it for a while with no success, you should probably focus in on the jobs you're bidding on and the quality of your proposals.

Hi Pravin,
Other than what Tiffany has already shared, you may want to check out these resources to help you get started on Upwork. I hope it helps!

I am submiting to a fair amount of proposals each week and most don't respond and so far two have told me I don't fit but that they wish me luck. I'm not sure if I just need to submit to even more or if I'm just not what people are looking for.
What areas should I flush out? I am a skilled illustrator and animator but I'm not sure if it's coming across through the samples I've submitted. I find it hard to upload images that look good enough and fit the size requirements that Upwork has.
Do I need even more examples of my work? I would really prefer to refer people to my personal portfolio site because the uploader on here is very very slow, and for such small files sizes it sometimes feels a little ridiculous, and my images look great on my site.
I also have most of my animation work on vimeo and send those links in proposals, should I instead put my demo on youtube to have it directly in my profile? Again, it's not my preferred platform but I will if it's really what is holding me back.
I'm not sure if it's just because I haven't been hired before, it seems like if I could get started, people would find me fun to work with as well as apprecite my art style. I've worked with some of my old college professors and interned on great shows, but I think I don't know how to sell myself. I appreciate any advice. Thanks in advace.

Hi Terri,
Don't lose hope! I'm happy to share with you some of our educational videos and blog posts, and best practices shared by other users, to help you get started on Upwork.
You may include links of your other portfolio in you proposal. I suggest that you add your other portfolio on your profile so that clients know that you have prior experience in the field.

Hello.
Iam recently register on upwork web, it i am data entry specialist, i accept to many proposal but did not received and hire message, how can be success? in future
Thanks
Naveed
Jul 19, 2016 02:11:16 AM by Preston H
Naveed, your overview text is repellent to clients. It should be completely rewritten.
You should not endeavor to be a data entry specialist. That is like being a grain of sand on a beach and hoping somebody thinks you are special and picks you up to take you home. Good luck with that. Do you know who gets picked up on a beach? A seashell. Not the grain of sand.
Wouldn't you rather be a seashell?

There are lots of resources on the platform that you can read to get ideas about how to present yourself to potential clients and land jobs. First thing's first, though - hide that below average score on the English Vocabulary Test from your profile. Your profile says you're fluent, but you scored low on the test, so hide it for now. Retake the test when you're able to and, once you score better, make it visible on your profile.
Here is a great thread on the Community board to read that has advice from lots of people on how to get that first job on Upwork: https://community.upwork.com/t5/Freelancers/Want-to-get-that-first-job-Then-check-this-out/m-p/21457...
Good luck!

Hi Folks!!,
I have just joined Upwork. I am a Motion graphic artist. I want you to guide me on my Portfolio and Profile. I have found and completed two projects on my own in my city. I also have put those projects on my Upwork portfolio.
I am on a baslic plan right now. I proposed for three jobs on Upwork, those I know i can handle them very well. But i have not received any reply from clients.
So i would like to ask you all people, that what else i can do to land my first job, or where i am lacking right now. My portfolio will grow only when i land with more jobs and complete them as per client satisfaction. So with these done projects how can i take further step on Upwork? You can see my profile and portfolio.
Regards,
Gaurav Shah

re: "My portfolio will grow only when i land with more jobs and complete them as per client satisfaction."
This is the wrong way to think about your portfolio.
You can create items specifically for inclusion in your portfolio. You do not need to wait to be hired in order to create impressive portfolio pieces.
Jul 21, 2016 04:03:50 AM by Gaurav S
Hi Preston,
Thank you for your reply specifically on my portfolio. You mean to say, I can develop project on my own to put in portfolio and it is fine if it is not done for potential clients
Jul 21, 2016 04:06:12 AM by Preston H
Gaurav:
Yes.
Look at my portfolio.
Nothing there was made for Upwork clients.

I'm not getting any invites for interview anymore after I have worked my first project. I've been wondering what's wrong. I have corrected my proposal and edited my profile. But still I'm not getting any jobs.
I am frustrated everytime there's a job posting that I really believe I can do but there's already 50 proposals submitted, I refrain mysef from submitting a proposal.
Jul 21, 2016 08:27:19 AM by Jennifer M
Your profile is private.
I really didn't get much in terms of invites for a few months. Now they are a little more consistent. You just have to keep bidding. Bid on things you're highly qualified to do and forget the proposal numbers.
Jul 21, 2016 08:28:17 AM by Melissa T
Sharmelle, your profile is set to private, so we can't see it. You can change it to public and then people will be able to take a look and make suggestions.
One thing I do is check the marketplace for job listings first thing in the morning and sometimes again in the evening. I usually only submit proposals to jobs that have been recently posted. Sometimes that window of time is as small as an hour. Once you hit that hour mark there are usually many proposals already submitted and there's no guarantee the client will even see your proposal in the sea s/he has received. There certainly are times when it doesn't matter how many proposals are submitted because the client is looking for specific things in the proposal and you stand just as much chance when you're the 50th as you would have if you were the 5th. But, those are not the norm. Perhaps you could try submitting proposals to the newest listed jobs first and see how that works out.

HI! My profile now is public. I have tried looking up job post during morning and afternoon but still no invites.
